Abbaye de la Rochette, located in Belmont-Tramonet in the foothills of the Savoie region, is a Benedictine monastery home to a community of thirteen nuns who follow the Rule of Saint Benedict. Heir to a long history that began near Lyon before the community settled in Savoie in 1970, it belongs to the Notre-Dame de la Rencontre federation and structures its days around prayer and work, according to the Ora et Labora: the sisters gather seven times a day in the abbey church and produce handcrafted goods (cards, books, notebooks) sold in the monastery shop. Their motto, Petra autem erat Christus, means "The rock is Christ."

Nestled at the foot of the first Alpine rock faces, amid lush greenery at an elevation of 820 feet, the Benedictine sisters welcome you for a time of listening and renewal. The setting lends itself equally to spiritual retreat and to quiet study, within easy reach of Chambéry and the Chartreuse massif.
