Carmelite Convent of Toulouse
Toulouse Haute-Garonne Founded in 1264
In the heart of the "Pink City," the Carmelite Convent of Toulouse is run by the Brothers of the Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCD), a mendicant and contemplative order founded in the 13th century on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land, which received its Rule from Saint Albert. The current community, established in the Côte Pavée neighborhood since 2000, is a formation community where young brothers study philosophy and theology. Carmelite life gives primacy to contemplation, with two hours of silent mental prayer each day, in the tradition of Saint Teresa of Ávila and Saint John of the Cross.
With its gardens, chapel, and library, the convent offers an ideal setting for renewal. It welcomes those who wish to make an individual spiritual retreat, while remaining close to the major sites of Toulouse.
