Dominican Sisters' Monastery of Paray
Paray-le-Monial Saône-et-Loire Founded in 1929
The Monastery of the Holy Rosary and the Sacred Heart, in Paray-le-Monial in Bourgogne, is run by the Dominican Sisters, nuns of the Order of Preachers who follow the Rule of Saint Augustine. Founded in 1929 by a community from the Basque Country, in the city of the apparitions of the Sacred Heart to Saint Marguerite-Marie Alacoque, it is home today to twelve nuns, ranging in age from 33 to 100, dedicated to personal and liturgical prayer, study, and community life.
Set apart from the town center, in a rural setting, the monastery is built on a sloping plot with views of the hills of the Mâconnais and, further away, the Lyonnais. The sisters welcome in their guest house those who wish to find renewal in the quiet, just a few minutes from the many sanctuaries of this pilgrimage city.
