In the heart of the Sologne forests, the grace of silence

Nestled in the heart of the forests of Sologne, in the commune of La Ferté-Imbault, Magdala is a former hunting lodge taken over in 1985 by the Fraternités Monastiques de Jérusalem to become a place of recollection and missionary joy. Founded in 1975 by Cardinal François Marty and Father Pierre-Marie Delfieux in the spirit of the Charismatic Renewal, these fraternities bring together non-cloistered religious men and women, called to seek and savor together the love of God through monastic prayer.

Set apart and dedicated to silence and spiritual renewal, the site extends across a 135-hectare forest. Over the years, the former stalls became cells, the stable an oratory, and the barn a large chapel, each space bearing names drawn from biblical geography. Guests come to live monastic life for the duration of their stay, in a setting conducive to prayer and rest.
