In the silence and beauty of the Provençal countryside

Sainte Lioba Abbey, located in Simiane-Collongue between Marseille and Aix-en-Provence, is a Benedictine monastery of the Order of Saint Benedict, affiliated with the monastic family of Sainte Lioba founded in 1935 by Hildegard Michaelis. A former student of the Hamburg School of Fine Arts who converted to the Catholic faith, she created numerous works, including paintings, after founding a first monastery in the Netherlands, then in Switzerland, and finally in France. Communities of monks and nuns lead a life of liturgical prayer.

In the silence and beauty of nature, the community invites guests to share in its times of prayer, to listen to the Word of God, to lend a hand with various tasks, and to unwind through walks in the surrounding area. Located 25 km from Aix-en-Provence and 30 km from Marseille, the abbey welcomes those seeking renewal in an atmosphere of peace and recollection.
