Angry, disappointed by the Church: Do I leave? Do I stay?
This retreat is for any Christian affected and unsettled by the current situation in the Church, who wishes to honestly and freely revisit their relationship with the Church in order to discern their future commitments.
With others, reflect on my history with the Church and discern the place of the institution in my faith
- Become aware of the changes and shifts affecting the Catholic world.
- Acknowledge my sufferings and grievances, as well as the signs of hope within our Church.
- Shed light on the challenges facing this institution, in light of the teachings of recent decades and personal testimonies.
- Meet others who carry the same questions, with whom I can speak in complete freedom.
- Honestly and freely revisit our relationship with the Christian faith and the Church, in order to clarify our future commitments and choices.
Testimonies from participants in previous sessions:
"I leave this session with a certain sense of peace about the crisis. There was my own crisis, but also the crisis of the Church, the crisis of the environment, and with everything that was said, it brought some order, because I was in a kind of chaos.
"Until now, I had only been able to talk about my anger with non-believing friends. I suffered from not being able to share this with brothers and sisters in faith. That has now changed."

Programme
The two days are built around ample space for each person to express themselves, particularly through small groups.
- Theological and biblical input on the history and current life of the Church will nourish reflection.
- Witnesses who have chosen to stay or to leave will share their journeys.
- Each participant will also be invited to engage in personal work, both to process the emotions they carry and to lay down markers for their path of faith.
- Lay listeners, expressive workshops, and celebration times respectful of each person will be offered throughout the session.
The guiding words: freedom, expression, fraternity!
Who leads it? The session will be facilitated by Jean-Marc Liautaud, theologian and full-time member of Fondacio, and François-Xavier Guiblin, full-time member of Fondacio.
