Discovery session: monastic life
What is the daily life of a monk like?
Come and spend 5 days living at the rhythm of a Benedictine community!
Deepen your relationship with Christ through the great pillars of monastic life:
- prayer,
- fraternal life,
- manual work.
This session is open to young men aged 18 to 35 who wish to discover monastic life from the inside.

Programme
- Participation in the offices
- Participation in the community's manual work (mainly in the garden and orchard)
- Teaching sessions on the fundamentals of monastic life (lectio divina, introduction to the Rule of St. Benedict, psalms, silent prayer, introduction to Gregorian chant)
- Walking in the countryside.
- During the session, personal time is scheduled.
- It is also possible to meet with a Brother for a spiritual conversation.
Practical information
Important information:
- You will be accommodated in the guest house in individual rooms.
- Meals are taken with the community.
- Please bring clothing and footwear suitable for garden work and walking.
- You would do us a great favor by bringing your own bed sheets and towel.
Financial contribution:
€130 for the 5 days (meals included)
Getting there
Train
From Orléans train station, take bus line 3A from the bus station, direction Les Bordes, and get off at Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire (approximately 1 hour).
Car
A10, exit Orléans Nord, then N60, exit Châteauneuf; A77, exit Montargis Nord.
Bike
We recommend it... Enjoy the cycling paths along the Loire and their idyllic scenery!
