Assumption Community - Lyon Croix Rousse

The Maison des Religieuses de l'Assomption, in Lyon, is run by the Sisters of the Assumption, a congregation founded in Paris in 1839 by Saint Marie Eugénie Milleret and established in the Croix-Rousse neighborhood, in the heart of the city. Following the Rule of Saint Augustine, the sisters share their days between prayer and work, in a fraternal life marked by joy and simplicity. As missionaries, they are involved in the Assomption Lyon schools, in the parish and the neighborhood, and they run a student residence as well as a "Laudato si'" shared housing arrangement with young professionals.
This welcoming family home and its large garden offer a sense of countryside and escape right in the heart of Lyon. Easy to reach, between the Saône and the Rhône, it is a privileged place for personal and spiritual renewal. The community regularly hosts retreats and activities for scouts.

Meals
Meals are shared with the community. Lunch is eaten together; dinner is taken in silence. Every Saturday, the silent dinner is a special experience not to be missed.
Accommodation
The house offers single and shared rooms. Bed linens and towels are not provided, so be sure to bring your own.
Garden
A large garden with a vegetable patch, chickens, and flowers is freely accessible. Perfect for walks and impromptu conversations.
Who is welcome?
The sisters welcome young people aged 18 to 35 for times of spiritual renewal, exam study, or manual work in the garden.
Neighborhood & surroundings
The house is located in the Croix-Rousse neighborhood (4th arrondissement of Lyon). The city center, the Basilique de Fourvière, Vieux Lyon, and the banks of the Saône are accessible on foot or by public transit.
Getting there
From Lyon, take bus C18 to the Bournes stop right in front of the house, or bus C13 to the Clos Jouves stop - Métro Hénon is a 10-minute walk away
5 hours from Paris via the A6, and 2 hours 26 minutes from Avignon via the A7
