Carmelites Nuns

The Carmel of Figeac is a monastery of Discalced Carmelite nuns located on avenue Jean-Jaurès in Figeac, in the Lot. It was founded on January 17, 1833, in the former Dominican convent, by Mother Thérèse-Victoire de Jésus, Prioress of the Carmel of Cahors. The monastery's tradition honors Mother Marie-Thérèse de Saint-Augustin, sent from Cahors as the first Prioress, as its foundress.

The community occupied the remains of the Dominican convent until 1899, then moved in 1902 to the current monastery. The spring developed by the first Dominicans still flows there. The Carmelites celebrate Lauds, Mass, and Vespers each day, with schedules published by the France-Sud Carmelite federation.
