Carmelites Nuns

The Carmel of Amiens, dedicated to the Holy Spirit, is a monastery of Discalced Carmelite nuns located on rue Saint-Fuscien, on the Montjoie hill, on the outskirts of Amiens, in the Somme department. Founded in 1606 in the wake of the Spanish Carmelites who came to establish the Theresian reform in France, it was never dissolved: the community remained together during the Revolution, resumed a visible life in 1799, and experienced a period of exile in Belgium before 1918.

The current monastery, with its contemporary lines, was designed in 1965 by architect Pierre Pinsard, and the chapel was completed in 1994. The sisters share their celebrations and offer a small guest reception: visitors may come to pray in the chapel, meet with a sister, take a break or make a retreat, and pray the offices with the community. A small shop completes the welcome.
