Cela São José

Cela São José is a small community of Benedictine monks located in Itapecerica da Serra, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It is affiliated with Abadia São Geraldo de São Paulo, of the Hungarian Congregation of the Order of Saint Benedict, whose first monks, coming from the archabbey of Pannonhalma, arrived in Brazil in the 1930s.

The community places the Divine Office at the center of its day. Its guest house welcomes those who wish to spend a few days on retreat and in prayer; guests may join the monks for their prayer times. The site also lists the schedules for the offices and confessions, as well as a shop.
