Convento de Nuestra Señora de la Consolación

Xàtiva Founded in 1520

Nuns

The Convento de Nuestra Señora de la Consolación is a monastery of Dominican nuns located on Portal de València street, in Xàtiva (province of Valencia, Spain). It was founded on March 31, 1520, around a hermitage that housed a painting of Our Lady of Consolation, venerated by local residents in times of war and plague. The community, a member of the Federation of the Immaculate Conception, celebrated its five hundredth anniversary in 2020.

Lauds, Vespers, and the Eucharist are open to the public according to the schedule published by the sisters. The monastery also provides a social meal Monday through Saturday and offers classes as well as a shop. The sources consulted do not describe a guest house.
