Dominican Monastery of St. Jude
Marbury Founded in 1944
Nuns
The Dominican Monastery of St. Jude is a monastery of cloistered Dominican nuns located at 143 County Road 20 East, in Marbury, Alabama (United States). It was founded in 1944 by sisters from Catonsville, Maryland, with the vision of an interracial community open to young women of all backgrounds. The founders settled on August 17, 1944, in the former rectory of the Holy Ghost Mission, which had been converted into a monastery.
The nuns chant the Divine Office in English and Latin, in traditional Dominican chant, and live the Eucharistic adoration and the perpetual Rosary. The chapel is open to the public every day from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for adoration and silent prayer, with daily Mass.
