Nuns

The Monastère Notre-Dame de la Plaine is the motherhouse of the Cistercian Bernardine Sisters of Esquermes, an order of nuns from the Cistercian family who live according to the Rule of Saint Benedict. It is located in Saint-André-lez-Lille, in the Nord department, in the diocese of Lille. The first sisters settled there in 1948 and the monastery was built gradually. About twenty-five sisters live there today.

The community has a guest house for stays of up to one week, with rooms in the château and a gîte for youth groups. Meeting rooms are also available, and students looking for a quiet place to study are welcome. A meeting with a sister is possible. The monastery has a shop.
