Nuns

The Monasterio de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación is a monastery of Dominican nuns located on Uría Street, in Cangas del Narcea (Asturias, Spain). The Dominican sisters have been present in the town since 1658. The current building was reconstructed after the demolition of the former convent in 1930.

According to the archdiocese of Oviedo, the community had seventeen sisters in 2016. It belongs to the Fédération Santo Domingo, which brings together twenty-four monasteries of contemplative Dominican nuns in Spain. The federation describes the sisters' life as a form of preaching through prayer and silence. The sources consulted do not describe any retreatant hospitality.
