Monasterio de la Santísima Trinidad y Santa Lucía
OrihuelaSpain Founded in 1941
The Monasterio de la Santísima Trinidad y Santa Lucía is home to a community of Dominican nuns in Orihuela (province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain). The Dominican convent of Santa Lucía was founded in the early 17th century near the cathedral, with the support of Dominican bishop Andrés Balaguer. Burned and demolished in 1936, it was replaced in 1941 by the former convent of the Discalced Trinitarians, founded in 1580, where the sisters live today.
The community belongs to the Federation of the Immaculate Conception and in 2021 welcomed the last sisters from the monastery of Burriana. The nuns produce conventional sweets, featured as part of a local trail. Sources consulted do not describe any retreatant hospitality.
