Benedictines Nuns

The Monasterio de Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta is home to a community of Benedictine nuns, neighboring the sanctuary of the Virgen de la Fuensanta, patron of Murcia. It is located in Algezares, a rural district of the municipality of Murcia (Region of Murcia, Spain), on the slopes of the sierra de Carrascoy. The nuns belong to the Congregación Monástica de Santa Hildegarda, which has brought together Benedictine monasteries from Spain since 2019.

The Baroque sanctuary, begun in 1694, is listed as a cultural heritage site; the neighboring monastery was built in the mid-20th century. The nuns watch over the sanctuary, where Mass is celebrated daily. They have a craft workshop. Sources consulted make no mention of a guest house.
