Benedictines Nuns

The Monasterio de San Benito is home to a community of Benedictine nuns in Cuntis, in the province of Pontevedra (Galicia, Spain), on a hill near the town center. It was founded in 1868 by Mother Carmen Baliñas, a Benedictine born in Cuntis, who sought to establish a community faithful to a strict observance of the Rule. The church, built on a Latin cross plan, houses statues of Saint Benedict and Saint Scholastica.

The nuns belong to the Congregación Monástica de Santa Hildegarda. They run a monastic guest house and support themselves in part through pastry making.
