Benedictines Nuns

The Monasterio de San Juan Bautista is home to a community of Benedictine nuns in Valfermoso de las Monjas, a village in the municipality of Ledanca, in the province of Guadalajara (Castilla-La Mancha, Spain), in the Badiel valley. The Romanesque monastery, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, dates back to the 12th century and has been largely rebuilt.

The nuns belong to the Congregación Monástica de Santa Hildegarda, which has brought together Benedictine monasteries from Spain since 2019. They operate a monastic guest house, by reservation, and sell their own products. The sources consulted do not provide details on the history of the current community.
