Benedictines Nuns
The Monasterio de Santa Cruz is a monastery of Benedictine nuns in Sahagún, in the province of León (Castille-et-León, Spain), on the Way of Saint James. It was founded on April 3, 1546, by Antonia Enríquez Orense, who became its first Abbess. The community was admitted into the Benedictine Congregation of Valladolid in 1586 and founded the monastery of San Plácido in Madrid in 1623.
The nuns opened a guest house in 1968 that welcomes pilgrims and guests year-round. From March to November, a daily Mass followed by a blessing of pilgrims and sung Vespers is offered. The monastery has a sacred art museum, a shop, and a pastry workshop.
