Monastery of Our Lady of Thanksgiving in Castelnaudary

CastelnaudaryAude Founded in 1951

Franciscans Nuns

The monastery of the Poor Clares of Castelnaudary, rue Pasteur, in the Aude, is home to a community of Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration. It was founded in 1951 through the union of a diocesan community of adoring sisters of Thanksgiving, founded by Mother Marie François de Sales, with eleven Franciscan sisters of the Most Blessed Sacrament from the monastery of Troyes.

The community's charism is the unceasing adoration, in thanksgiving, of the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. From 2002 onward, sisters from monasteries of the order in Poland, the Americas, and India joined the community. On August 25, 2007, seven sisters from Castelnaudary left to reopen the monastery of Troyes, the cradle of the community, while seven others remained in Castelnaudary.
