Mosteiro da Santa Cruz

Juiz de Fora Founded in 1960

Benedictines Nuns

Mosteiro da Santa Cruz is a Benedictine abbey of nuns located in the Paineiras neighborhood of Juiz de Fora, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It belongs to the Benedictine Congregation of Brazil. The community was founded in 1960 by the Abadia de Santa Maria de São Paulo. It has around twenty nuns.

The sisters gather seven times a day for the Liturgy of the Hours, in addition to Mass. They support themselves through their work, particularly beekeeping, a tradition at the monastery since the 1960s that was revived in 2018. Hive products are sold at the monastery's small shop on Rua Professor Coelho.
