Benedictines Monks

The Mosteiro de São Bento de Brasília is a conventual priory of Benedictine monks located in the Ermida Dom Bosco sector of Lago Sul, on the shores of Lake Paranoá, in the Federal District of Brazil. It was officially founded on July 14, 1987, by the Abbaye de São Bento d'Olinda, of the Congregação Beneditina do Brasil, and erected as a conventual priory on October 5, 1995.

The monks chant the Divine Office every day, from Vigils to Compline, and celebrate daily Mass, open to the public. Their guest house welcomes individuals and groups for retreats, in the monastery building and in a neighboring house called the "mosteirinho." A shop sells breads, cakes, cookies, and liqueurs produced by the community.
