Prieuré Notre-Dame des Champs

ArlesBouches-du-Rhône Founded in 1975

Benedictines Monks

Prieuré Notre-Dame des Champs is a community of Benedictine monks of the Notre-Dame d'Espérance congregation, established at the Bouchaud estate, in the commune of Arles (Bouches-du-Rhône), within the Camargue Regional Nature Park. The estate, bequeathed to the congregation by Claire de Bovis, welcomed the founding of the priory on July 16, 1975. The brothers live according to the Rule of Saint Benedict, in the spirituality of Charles de Foucauld.

Mass and the offices are open to all, in the former stable of the farmhouse converted into a chapel. The priory welcomes groups, families, pilgrims, and individual retreatants, who may share in the brothers' prayer. A shop selling monastic craft products occupies the old bread oven, and an exhibition of icons by Father Dominique Dupire is presented on site.
