Real Convento de Santa Catalina de Siena (Paterna)

Paterna Founded in 1971

Nuns

The Real Convento de Santa Catalina de Siena is home to the community of Dominican nuns of Paterna, in the province of Valencia. The monastery was founded on January 23, 1491 by Father Fayol, in a chapel granted by Ferdinand the Catholic. After the demolition of the original convent in 1968, the community moved to Paterna in 1971, then into a new monastery built in 2014.

The monastery houses the seat of the Federation of the Immaculate, which brings together Dominican nuns' monasteries from Aragon, Catalonia, and Valencia. The community organizes times of prayer, including prayer vigils with young people and days of reflection announced on the federation's website.
