The Real Monasterio de San Pelayo is home to a community of Benedictine nuns in the historic center of Oviedo (Asturias, Spain), near the cathedral. Originally dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, it received in 994 the relics of the young martyr Pelagius, from whom it takes its name. The church dates from the 16th century, the choir and main cloister from the 17th century, and the baroque facade from 1703.
The community belongs to the Congregación Monástica de Santa Hildegarda. Its guest house is open to those seeking a place of silence who wish to join in prayer; the church is open every day for the Liturgy of the Hours. The nuns have a pastry workshop. They also welcome the communities of Palacios de Benaver and Zamora.
