A recent Benedictine community

The Benedictine community settled in Dumenza in November 2005. Previously, the building housed a children's summer camp, which remained abandoned for several years.

Between 2002 and 2005, the structure was completely renovated and expanded to accommodate a stable monastic community.

Today, the community consists of thirteen brothers, including twelve who have made solemn profession and one in temporary profession, living according to the Rule of Saint Benedict, uniting prayer, work and hospitality.

Hospitality within the community

The community welcomes exclusively those who wish to experience an authentic prayer and spiritual experience, and not for touristic purposes.

Each stay is intended as a time of interior renewal, in silence, simplicity and the beauty of the place.

What to expect during your stay

Monastic life and spiritual guidance

The monastery does not offer organized spiritual retreats, but it welcomes people who wish to experience a time of silence, listening and personal spiritual search.

It is possible to request guidance in lectio divina, a time of listening or a spiritual conversation.

All guests participate in the community's liturgical prayer, in meals taken in silence with table reading, and in certain moments of fraternity.

Upon request, it is also possible to participate in manual work, according to the Benedictine tradition of ora et labora.

Welcome and accommodation

The monastery's guest house has nine rooms (seven single and two double), each with a private bathroom.

Guests also have access to a coffee room, a meeting room (up to 30 people) and four parlors for individual conversations or small groups.

Meals are taken in the same refectory as the monks, in a space reserved for guests, in silence.

During the summer months, scout or parish groups (maximum 15 to 20 people) can use two small buildings adjacent to the monastery on a self-catering basis.
