Walking and prayer

In the heart of Savoie, a retreat in nature and prayer with the Benedictine sisters

Walking and prayer

"The Lord is passing by... Will you wait for another opportunity? Why delay? Walk with him on the path of life." (CFC Hymn — CNPL)

  • The psalmist affirms with faith: Lord, you show me the path of life! (Ps 16:11).
  • God desires that we live fully from his life, and for this he "has become our companion on the path of true Life" (Leo XIV, audience of December 31, 2025).
  • He offers each of us, freely, to receive this Life, pleading to our hearts: "Choose life!" (Dt 30:19). From him, I receive everything. To him, I offer my life as an offering. And toward my brothers and sisters, I set out — bearing this Life that overflows and seeks to give itself.
  • This retreat combines meditation on the Word of God and contemplation of creation through several hikes, to walk more deeply along this path of life that the Lord offers us — a life to receive from him and to share with our brothers and sisters.

Programme

  • During this retreat, through meditation on the Word of God and contemplation of the beauty of creation, we will let Christ walk with us and us with him.
  • Each day is shaped by communal prayer with the Benedictine sisters.
  • The day begins with a brief teaching connected to the theme of the retreat.
  • In the morning and in the afternoon, a biblical text, introduced with a few guiding points, is offered for personal meditation, followed by a time of personal silence.
  • Each day a hike is offered (Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons; Thursday as a full day), accessible to all and adapted to the group — and the weather! Those who do not wish to join one or more of the hikes are welcome to remain at the abbey.
  • A time of personal prayer is offered during each hike, supported by the contemplation of nature.

Practical information

  • The retreat begins on Monday with dinner at 7:00 p.m. and ends on Friday, after the midday meal.
