Contemplating God's Work in Mary Magdalene

Time set apart to nourish our spiritual life by contemplating God's work in Saint Mary Magdalene

  • We will examine the Scriptures, taking care not to conflate the 3 women from the Gospel that Western Church tradition has often identified with Saint Magdalene: Mary of Magdala, the woman who poured perfume in the house of Simon the Pharisee, and the sister of Lazarus and Martha.

  • These 3 figures, especially Mary of Magdala, will call us to conversion, to strengthen and renew our missionary being, our attachment to Christ.

  • With Magdalene, we will return to the primacy of God who saves.

  • Disciple and servant, she will lead us to examine this heart-to-heart relationship of the saved with the Master, to be at his service personally and in community.

  • It is in the blindness of tears, preoccupied with earthly concerns, that the Risen One reveals himself to her. "Faith does not come without trial, difficulty, and misunderstanding."

Retreat led by Catherine SABA, catechumenate coordinator for the Diocese of Marseille.
