Celebrating the Black Virgin at Douvres-la-Délivrande
Each year, on the Thursday following August 15th, the faithful gather in large numbers at the Basilica of Douvres-la-Délivrande (Calvados) to celebrate the Black Virgin, with the procession through the city streets as the highlight.
A moment of sharing and fervor, the procession of the statue accompanied by hymns is a must for anyone visiting Douvres-la-Délivrande.
We are located about a hundred meters from the Basilica. We offer accommodation and meals.
Friday, August 21:
8:30 PM Marian vigil at the basilica
Saturday, August 22:
- Mass at 10:30 AM,
- rosary at 2:30 PM,
- procession of the Black Virgin at 3:00 PM through the streets of Douvres,
- final blessing on the forecourt.
