A retreat at Notre-Dame de Wisques Abbey
A monastic retreat means coming away for four days to experience, with others, a spiritual journey in a fraternal and family-like atmosphere.
The monastic retreat is an invitation to dive into your inner life, to disconnect as much as possible from distracting external 'noise' in order to return to what matters most and discover the treasure hidden deep within: God's plan for you!
Joy, inner life, time to discern under God's gaze—these are what leave a deep impression.
"I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this retreat. For four days I was able to discover monastic life, step back, and refocus on what matters most. Each moment of this retreat (the teachings, the work, the divine offices, the times of fellowship) will help me, I'm sure, in discerning my vocation. It is a true joy to have met you, and I carry with me your smiles, your joy of living, and especially God's presence in each of you. You radiate a light that deeply touched me, and I hope to reflect Jesus' presence in my life in this way, whatever my vocation may be. Thank you all. I hold you in my prayers." (Hélène, 24 years old)

Each day follows the rhythm of the nuns' life:
- Times of solitude
- Sharing
- Liturgical offices
- Teachings
- Manual work
- "recreation times" and many good moments shared together!
This immersion allows you to discover Benedictine life and be immersed in Gregorian liturgy. The teachings are varied and cover prayer, an introduction to Gregorian chant, discovering inner life, as well as discernment, lectio divina, feminine vocation, etc.
Meals are served on site in the guest dining room
Retreatants are asked to bring, if possible:
- A sleeping bag
- A pair of sheets and toiletries
- A Bible, a missal, and something to take notes
The contribution to expenses is free-will, according to each person's means.
