48 hours with the monks of Orval Abbey
In addition to the schedule of liturgical offices in choir with the community, you will have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of monastic life.
Friday
- arrival requested before 5:00 PM for the introduction to the weekend program
- evening: discover psalm singing and monastic life through the liturgy
Saturday
- morning: practice meditative reading of the Word of God, meeting with a brother
- afternoon: manual work according to the season in the forest or in the vegetable garden
- evening: discussion and testimony about a brother's vocation journey
Sunday
- participation in Vigils followed by a time of meditation on the Word of God, Gospel sharing with the brothers of the community
- after Mass: personal meeting with a brother
- early afternoon: group evaluation time for the weekend
Lodging and meals are in the community's living quarters. This is not accommodation in the Abbey's guest house.
Practical details:
- bring clothes and shoes for outdoor work in the forest,
- bring a Bible (if possible)
- no need for cell phone or internet for 48 hours...
