[Retreat] – Ecology and the Gospel

Reserve my spot

A weekend for those who wish to strengthen their connection to Creation and experience a proven ecospirituality method

Weaving connections, in our lives, between Christian faith and a spiritual and existential approach to ecology, so that we may engage more fully and durably with our whole being (body, gut, heart, mind). And so that our commitment to the living world and our Christian faith may nourish and sustain each other.

How? The Work That Reconnects is a method developed by Joanna Macy since the 1980s. Its spiral dynamic can be experienced by Christians as an ecospirituality path rooted in the Gospel.

The spiral of the Work That Reconnects unfolds in 4 movements (grounding in gratitude; honoring our pain for the world; shifting our perspective; going forth). Each stage includes various moments that weave together personal time and collective exercises.

Our session invites participants to live this dynamic by letting it resonate with the Gospel, drawing connections between the lived experience of the Work That Reconnects and these founding texts of the Christian faith.

This intersection may offer some participants the opportunity to discover how to interiorize biblical texts and receive them "with the heart."

In practice, the retreat will include time for:

    • Meditation on biblical texts
    • Input on ecospirituality
    • Work That Reconnects exercises, engaging body and senses
    • Prayers and celebrations
    • Group sharing

Who will lead it? The session will be facilitated in partnership with the Jesuit spiritual eco-center of Le Châtelard.

The team will be composed of Xavier de Bénazé, S.J., ecology coordinator for the French Jesuit province, Jean-Marc Liautaud, theologian at Fondacio, and Laure Guiblin, Fondacio facilitator, certified in the Work That Reconnects.
