A weekend to strengthen their connection to Creation and experience a proven ecospirituality method
Weaving connections, in our lives, between Christian faith and the spiritual and existential approach to ecology, in order to better engage ourselves long-term with our whole person (body, gut, heart, mind). And so that our commitment to the living world and our Christian faith nourish and support each other mutually.
How? The Work that Reconnects is a method developed by Joanna Macy since the 1980s. Its spiral dynamic can be experienced by Christians as an ecospiritual path rooted in the Gospel.
The spiral of the Work that Reconnects unfolds in 4 stages (anchoring in gratitude, honoring our pain for the world, seeing with new eyes, going forth). Each stage includes various moments that articulate personal times and collective exercises.
Our session offers to live this dynamic while letting it resonate with the Gospel, in order to "make connections" between the experience lived in the Work that Reconnects and these foundational texts of Christian faith.
This intersection may be an opportunity for some to discover how to internalize biblical texts and receive them "with the heart."
Concretely, the retreat will include times of:
- Biblical text meditation
- Presentations on ecospirituality
- Work that Reconnects exercises
- Engaging body and senses
- Prayers and celebrations
- Group sharing
By whom? The session will be led in partnership with the Châtelard Jesuit spiritual ecocenter.
The team will be composed of Xavier de Bénazé, S.J., ecology coordinator for the Jesuit Province of France, Jean-Marc Liautaud, theologian with Fondacio, and Laure Guiblin, Fondacio trainer certified in the Work that Reconnects.
Practical information
The duration of your stay is up to you, but the core program with others is offered from Friday, November 22 at 10:00 AM to Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 5:00 PM. The retreat forms a whole. Personal spiritual guidance is offered for each participant.

So that money is not a barrier to participating in the session, everyone will be invited to contribute freely, in good conscience and according to their means. For information, the actual cost is €295 (educational fees, meals, accommodation) and €215 without accommodation.
