A weekend to pray with the Dominican Sisters

Silent prayer is a form of Christian prayer present in a tradition dating back to the first monks and taught until the seventeenth century. It has been known by several names, such as "prayer of simple presence" or "prayer of simple regard," for example.

In practicing it, one simply seeks to make oneself available to God's presence. It particularly helps one learn to navigate through the distractions that can so easily turn us away from prayer.

Very simple means allow us to remain in God's presence, doing nothing, simply striving to be available, to truly be there, under his gaze. And this changes one's life.

This is the Christian way of practicing what many people today discover in mindfulness meditation or zen. Here, the practice of presence is oriented toward God, lived in relationship with God.

A specific practical workshop will be offered to those discovering this form of silent prayer.

Half-hour silent meditation sessions will be experienced in a group, and teachings on the practice and meaning of this form of prayer will be offered.

For those who wish, it will be possible to participate in the liturgical prayer times of the Dominican nuns' community that welcomes us.

It is recommended to bring the equipment you usually use for meditation, mat, cushion, small bench. Those who do not have any will find some on site.

If possible, please bring sheets or a sleeping bag. Otherwise, you can rent them on site for 6 €.

It is not possible to register if you cannot be present from Friday 6:30 PM to Sunday 3:00 PM. The session begins before the evening meal. Please notify in advance if you arrive on Friday before 4:00 PM.

Those who wish to arrive earlier or extend their stay at the monastery should contact the guest mistress of Taulignan directly.

Suggested offering at the end of the retreat

Registration: between 60 and 75 €, to be paid upon registration, payable to "Monastère des Dominicaines de Taulignan." Accommodation: Free-will offering to be given during the session. We suggest an indicative range of 80 to 120 € per person (+ 6 € if you rent sheets). Thank you to each person for helping us according to their means.
