Eremo San Giorgio
The Eremo San Giorgio is located in Bardolino, in the province of Verona, and is part of the great Camaldolese monastic tradition, honoring the spiritual heritage of the Sacro Eremo e Monastero di Camaldoli.
Founded at the end of the 17th century, this community draws inspiration from the figure of Saint Romuald, the founder of the Camaldolese tradition, which combines eremitic life and community life.

History of the place
The Eremo San Giorgio was founded by a Camaldolese community of eremitic orientation, but since 1994, it has been home to the current community, which has preserved a semi-eremitic tradition. This way of life allows for profound solitude and personal reflection.
The monastery is situated on a hilltop overlooking Lake Garda, and is surrounded by a lush park, a grove, and an olive grove, creating an environment conducive to inner peace.
The site remains relatively secluded, with buildings including:
- the chapel,
- eremitic cells,
- a library,
- a barchessa (storage space),
- work spaces.
Guests can enjoy an experience that fosters prayer, meditation, and spiritual seeking.

Geography and activities
Location and activities
The Eremo is located near Lake Garda, a well-known tourist destination. However, the site invites its guests to remain focused on prayer and reflection rather than using it as a base for sightseeing excursions.
Guests are invited to explore on foot within the Eremo's grounds or its immediate surroundings. One of the recommended walks is the 30-to-40-minute hike up to the Rocca di Garda, a historic fortress dating from the Ottonian period, with visible ruins at the top of the hill.
