Retreats organized by the community
The community of Redemptoristine nuns in Sainte-Thérèse
Located in the heart of Sainte-Thérèse (Québec), the monastery of the Redemptoristine nuns is part of a long tradition of Christian spiritual retreats in Canada. Placed under the patronage of Saint Teresa of Avila, a major figure in spirituality, the town of Sainte-Thérèse has been home to this contemplative community since 1963.
Founded with the support of Bishop Pierre Décary and approved by Bishop Émilien Frenette of the Diocese of Saint-Jérôme, the monastery was born from the desire to establish a French-speaking presence of the Redemptoristines. Three sisters from Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré initiated this foundation, soon joined by other nuns.
At the heart of both the world and the city, the Redemptoristine nuns are called to be a praying presence, a living memory of redeeming Love.

A life shaped by prayer and contemplation
Founded in 1731 in Scala (Italy) by Marie Céleste Crostarosa and Saint Alphonsus Liguori, the Redemptoristines belong to a contemplative order centered on prayer and the remembrance of Christ throughout the day.
Their daily life is organized around:
- liturgical prayer (5 offices per day),
- manual or intellectual work,
- times of silence, rest, and meditation.
Each sister offers her talents in service of the community, in a spirit of simplicity and prayer. A private garden also allows for moments of contemplative walking and wonder.
