In the heart of the small village of Ars-sur-Formans, about thirty kilometers from Lyon, the Ars Carmel has been home since 1939 to a community of Carmelite nuns. Founded a 5-minute walk from the basilica of the holy Curé d'Ars, the monastery has a particular vocation: to pray for all priests.

The sisters welcome young women for individual retreats who wish to discern a possible vocation to monastic religious life. It is a time of silence, recollection, and discernment, lived outside the enclosure alongside the extern sisters.
