A brief history of Hautmont
In 1888, a group of visionary entrepreneurs, inspired by the Jesuits, brought "Notre Dame du Hautmont" to life in Mouvaux, building a majestic 1,300-square-meter structure steeped in history.
Over the decades, this residence has undergone continuous evolution in response to society's changes. As early as 1985, the Jesuits began involving laypeople in animating the place, breathing new life into this emblematic space. The year 2000 marked a decisive turning point when the Christian Life Community received the mission to bring this house to life and accepted its stewardship.
The Center is much more than a simple religious building. It embodies a space for reflection, experimentation, and action, open to all.
Here, everyone is invited to rediscover the meaning of their life and to participate in various training programs to better understand the world around us.
The Center aims to be a place of renewal, an oasis of calm and reflection in the heart of the whirlwind of modern life, where everyone is welcome to take a break.
A team to welcome you
A team of nearly 300 people, whether volunteers or staff members, is dedicated to welcoming, guiding visitors, and of course animating the place in a spirit of fraternity.
The members, from diverse backgrounds, share their faith, their joy, and their energy to serve Hautmont's mission.
This mission focuses on welcoming and accompanying visitors seeking meaning, looking to grow on both human and spiritual levels, while fostering a better understanding of the world around them.
This approach is inspired by Ignatian spirituality, a spirituality that encourages contemplation in action and seeking God in all things. It aims to help individuals become free and enlightened actors, while inviting them to contribute to transforming the world alongside others.

Accommodations at Centre Spirituel du Hautmont
Centre Spirituel du Hautmont can welcome groups and families by providing comfortable accommodations, rooms available for rent, and offering quality dining. It also offers access to an eco-spiritual park.
The facilities include:
- A main hall with 230 seats (or two halls of 115 people each)
- An upper chalet (80 people) and lower chalet (30 people) equipped with kitchenettes.
- 10 flexible rooms for groups of 10 to 30 people
- 40 rooms offering a total of 90 beds, including 14 with showers and toilets, and one accessible to people with reduced mobility (with an elevator in the Center)
- Restaurant offering a variety of meals, buffets, and cocktails
- Chapel currently under renovation and 3 oratories
- Well-stocked library for peaceful reading moments
- Room equipped with creative materials (paint, brushes, papers...) freely available to you
- Park with spiritual paths to discover
- Bicycles available to borrow for rides in the surroundings.
Gardening workshops and spirituality with provision of equipment and practical advice are offered!
Depending on the retreats and events, meals may take place in silence or not, and several dining rooms are adapted to meet the needs of different groups present.
