The model of life: the vulnerable Lamb

Initiated in 1974 in Vézelay, the Little Sisters of the Lamb community was born from the friendship between several Dominican religious and a Franciscan brother.
Rooted in a return to the original character of the mendicant orders, it was officially founded in 1981.

Today, it includes 180 sisters and 40 brothers, spread across eight countries: in Europe (France, Austria, Spain, Italy, Poland) and on the American continents (United States, Argentina, Chile).

Their model is that of the vulnerable Lamb. Their vocation: to go toward others with empty hands and share Christ's love with those most in need.

Following in the footsteps of the apostles, the Little Sisters of the Lamb walk through the streets of Marseille and its surroundings, on foot or hitchhiking, to meet the men and women of today. By humbly knocking on doors to ask for daily bread, they experience what Georges Bernanos called "the sweet miracle of empty hands": after the doors, hearts open.

The Community of the Lamb in Marseille

In May 1988, Bishop Coffi welcomed the Little Sisters of the Lamb to his diocese. In 2016, they established themselves in the La Rose neighborhood, where a small monastery was built thanks to the generosity of many benefactors.

This monastery radiates through the simplicity, fraternal joy, and prayer of its inhabitants. It is open to all: passersby, the curious, walkers, believers, or seekers of meaning.

In the chapel, the monastic offices are sung each day, morning, evening, and even at night.

The Little Sisters joyfully welcome anyone wishing to entrust an intention, share a moment of listening, or participate in the monastery's upkeep.
