Saint-Martin Priory is the mother house of the Congregation of the Missionary Brothers of the Countryside. It is located in the heart of the village of La Houssaye-en-Brie, just a few dozen meters from its historic center, church, and castle.
The community of the Missionary Brothers of the Countryside
The Missionary Brothers of the Countryside (known by the charming acronym FMC) form a religious congregation founded in 1943 in La Houssaye-en-Brie by Father Épagneul. The brothers can be priests or laymen, they make vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, and they live in communities of at least four brothers. There are apostolic religious communities of the Missionary Brothers of the Countryside in France, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Togo.

Le Palis guest house and the Missionary Brothers of the Countryside
The guest house of Saint-Martin Priory, called "Le Palis," welcomes all people who wish to experience a time of calm and spiritual retreat, alone or in groups. The entire site is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Please note: during the day, the domain is open to the public, for anyone wishing to take a walk or meet a brother.
For students in the Paris region, Domaine du Palis is an ideal place for your exam review or competition preparation. You will find calm, nature, and study rooms.
The guest house has 22 rooms with 1 to 4 beds, offering 35 sleeping spaces, all accessible by elevator.
The priory has a large refectory and several meeting rooms: one room for 40 people, two rooms for 15 people, one room for 15 people, and one room for 10 people. A large veranda extends the meeting room space and can be used as a reception area for coffee breaks and conversations.

Saint-Martin Priory is located in a rural hamlet in the Brie region, with local shops and a weekly farmers' market. Not far away you will also find Ferme au Chocolat, highly recommended for a morale boost!
The small village of La Houssaye-en-Brie is located 45 km east of Paris, near the A4 and N4, equidistant from Meaux, Melun, and Provins, and close to Marne-la-Vallée.
On foot, there are many trails for discovering the bell towers of La Houssaye-en-Brie, Marles-en-Brie, and Crèvecœur-en-Brie: these are churches partly from the 12th century and traditional Brie region farms.
Also noteworthy are the hikes along the riding trails of the Hautefeuille and Crécy forests.
