The Grand Fougeray house, a haven of peace in Celtic lands
The Grand-Fougeray House rests on an ancient historic site.
A fortress already existed here in the 10th century and was reinforced in the 15th century with nine towers. Destroyed in the 16th century, only the keep survived. In the 18th century, Count Charles-Jean Locquet de Grandville transformed the ruins into a large house, named "Château Du Guesclin".
Later, it was a monastery for the Visitation Sisters of Rennes until 1978, with the construction of a chapel in the 1960s. Since 1984, it has been a spiritual center for the Famille Missionnaire de Notre-Dame, welcoming retreats, recollections, camps and missionary activities throughout the region.
