A devoted, joyful, and welcoming community in Roquefort-les-Pins!
The vocation of the international Foyers de charité is to give everyone the opportunity to find renewal and rediscover the strength to do good around them. It is open to believers, but also to those who do not have faith. Hospitality is therefore at the heart of its vocation, creating spaces of beauty and goodwill.
The daily life of Foyer de charité members is divided between prayer, fraternal life, and work. All roles are connected to welcoming guests and running a home designed to receive you in the best possible conditions.
The community comprises twenty-five people, men and women, lay and ordained, single or married, from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds. Committed to the "Église Verte" collective, it strives to embrace an ecological approach in all areas. The vegetable garden is one of the concrete expressions of this commitment.
Shortly after its founding, a school was opened on the same grounds, seeking to pass on the same values. The central building is the heart of community life, where members gather with guests for meals.
A time of retreat at a Foyer de charité
The Foyer de charité de Côte d'Azur, founded in 1950 in Roquefort-les-Pins on the site of the Sacré Coeur sanctuary, belongs to the Foyers de charité network, founded in 1936 through the inspiration of Marthe Robin and Father Georges Finet in Châteauneuf-de-Galaure, in the Drôme.
The network currently includes more than 70 Foyers de charité spread across 4 continents. The Foyers de charité bring together lay people, men and women, living in community. They share a life of family, prayer, and work in service of all those they welcome.
The Foyers de charité have gradually specialized in preaching spiritual retreats centered on Christian formation, open to all. Community life is a cornerstone of these places: members pool their possessions, skills, and charisms.

What to expect during your stay
Living a spiritual retreat on the Côte d'Azur
Several types of retreats are offered:
- 5-day retreats for the most part, as well as 3-day retreats
- Themes drawn from the Bible to deepen one's knowledge of the Word of God and bring it to life
- Themes to (re)explore the foundations of the faith
- Retreats exploring a particular theme in depth
- Retreats incorporating a specific approach, with workshops to help integrate the Word with one's whole self
In all retreats, spiritual guidance is offered by trained individuals. The workshops typically offered include: lectio divina, Vittoz, painting, calligraphy, writing...
Whatever the motivation, a spiritual retreat marks a pause in a place conducive to inner life. The setting, the silence, and the rhythm of the retreat all come together to nurture and ensure the beauty of this privileged time.
Accommodation at the Foyer de charité Roquefort-Côte d'Azur
3 buildings spread throughout the park are reserved for accommodation. Together, they offer around forty rooms and can welcome up to 50 guests!
Each person has their own individual room, either with a full private bathroom (toilet, shower, and sink), or with a sink and shower. Rooms for couples are also available with full private bathrooms, as well as one accessible room for guests with reduced mobility.
Two rooms are dedicated to group gatherings: conferences, meetings, general assemblies... and times of personal or communal prayer take place in the crypt. Access to the crypt and the oratory (in the main building) is open and free to all.
The patio, with its Mediterranean colors and style, is a much-loved spot for meditation and outdoor meals during the warmer months. Meals are taken in silence, and in the evening together with the community. Particular care is given to balanced and wholesome food. And for the past few years, a vegetable garden has been enriching the daily menu (depending on the season).
Geography and activities
A spiritual retreat in Provence
Located in Roquefort-les-Pins (no connection to the cheese — the only scent you'll notice here is that of pine trees), a town of 7,000 inhabitants, just 20 minutes by car from Nice and Grasse, the Foyer de charité's setting makes it easy to enjoy both a swim in the sea and hikes in the mountainous hinterland.
On foot, you can walk into the center of Roquefort-les-Pins and visit the remains of the medieval castle known as Le Castellas, as well as the ruins of the former abbey church of St Michel.
By car or bus, you will find a wide choice of museums, historic sites, and beaches to explore!
